Shon Coleman:: Auburn University Signee Undergoing Chemotherapy

For those of you who's been living under a rock... Shon Coleman is a 6-foot-7, 285 pound offensive lineman out of Olive Branch, Mississippi. Shon is a signee from the latest recruiting class of 2010 who was diagnosed with leukemia in March, a little over a month after signing with Auburn University's Football team.

Coleman was one of Auburn's top recruits in February and among the most highly touted offensive tackles in the country, but after beginning diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia also known as ALL he had to put both football and college on hold.

Things have become close to normal for him now. Since earlier this summer Coleman has been able to work out full speed.  He will still get treatment once a week for two years, spending 1-3 hours at St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., every Tuesday. He hopes in a few months to be getting them closer to Auburn.

"I should be on the way to 100 percent recovery," Coleman said. "Everything's going good. Doctors are saying everything's going better than they thought."

So well, in fact, he's hoping to enroll at Auburn in January and go through spring practice. If doctors deem him not ready, the Tigers will still keep his scholarship on reserve.

YMD is sending a special blessing out to Shon and his family in hopes his treatment sessions rid the cancer so that he will be able to enjoy his college experience and get back out there on the field! (Keeping you in our prayers)
